Some people will try and dim your light
Somewhere down your lifeline

The source of sorrow is that it won’t be who you expect
The devil appears in beautiful forms
And none are immune to his deception

They say blood is thicker than water
But your body is composed of more water than blood

It could be your sister, your lover, your brother
When words are used to crumble your confidence and lower your head

Run far, run fast, run without hesitation because you already know
No one who loves you will attempt to dim your light

They’re not being cruel to be kind
It’s not because they’re objective
It’s not because they are not empathetic

It’s because they can

It’s because they’re looking for a dimmer switch
So they can forget about the lack of light
They feel inside
