In May 2019, Muslims around the world fasted for the holy month of Ramadan. As someone who has experienced mental health issues, it can be a difficult time of year to stay focused and motivated, especially when you have no family around to encourage you, and work long hours.
I have written afew things about it, at Gal-Dem and The New Arab – I then linked up with the BBC to film a day in my life as I fasted.
I don’t know why I didn’t share it here sooner – I was just abit overwhelmed. But I thought I may as well share it now, because while Ramadan has gone, it will come again, and there will be people who feel exactly the way I do.
You can watch the short film here.
